2003 - 2011   KARTCROSS: AMATEUR TO CHAMPION

Iago grew up watching his father, José Caamaño, running in rallies in the mid-late 80's, and took out all the inspiration and taste for this motorsport. Always accompanied from an early age his father a few tests with different cars, Seat, Opel Ascona, the GT Turbo and the 1000 Citroen slopes. They do not have this many childhood memories for being too young at the time, but remembers some moments lived Dickey with his mother, Luis Santos and Pepe conchado while disputing some races and exchanged drive on some trips.

He was influenced by his father Iago is entered in the races since it withdrew in 1994 after winning the rise in Culleredo by land, concentrated only on the job.

After finishing his studies at age 18 he began working with his father, as he had before him, as the son of the chief, a great responsibility and example to give to all people. As accumulated several functions, of which travel to various countries for monitoring of works or verification measures for new works and how the experience at the time was little and the requirement of the job was too came the accumulation of many problems related to work, notably developed an anxiety disorders and chronic stress, having to receive treatment. His father finally to find an alternative method to all this trouble, suggested the beginning again in the races. Therefore, along with Jose Maria Rosende, started the first race, and his father always followed frightened by the idea giving him advice "The races are very sacrificadoras, you will have many problems until you get some joy"

Thus, in 2003, with technical assistance of Álvaro Corral, a specialist in bikes, began the training in kartcross in Santa Comba.

It did not take long before it begins to excel in kartcross in 2005 was running with a Semog, where he began to win the first races. In 2006 he began to lead much of the Galician championship finished in the top places. In 2007 he managed to win his first Galician championship in the penultimate race, which will never be forgotten because in the last race had an accident along with 3 other cars, which still managed to finish third and secure the title. With this achieved the illusion of running and the dream of winning.

This was followed by another year in which the goal would be the championship of Spain. In 2008 he continued with Semog but this time with a Honda engine, the same that would come from a few months later. Thus, on board a Yacarcross, began to compete throughout the national championship and a few Galician races in 2009. Then in 2010, changed its Yacarcross for Speed Car Xtrem of Delfun Lahoz, it is recalled that this season was fully different from the others, dedicating more training and concentration that led him to win the championship of Spain for his first time in Miranda de Ebro, thus fulfilling a dream with dedication to his friend Ruffy, Ruben Gomez Rica.

After this season, also took part in some races in 2011, but decided to leave later, competing only sporadically during the year.

2012 - 2016   RALLYS

After all the experience obtained in kartcross and the sense of purpose fulfilled, he decided to join the rallies in 2012 with a Ford Fiesta R2 RMC with his co-driver José Antonio Pintor. Obviously went through many difficulties in adapting to the new mode as well as the idea that it would have a co-pilot to give you information and thus scare fright, was finishing some evidence during this year, tried to stay in the race as long as possible .

In 2014 had many problems and accidents, came out in Lalin, mechanical problems in Curtis, in Ourense problems with the rear wheel and a blow in Leitariegos. Whenever finished smoothly, it remained between the 2nd and 4th place. Yet begun to experience the land ralies.

After the difficult start aboard his Fiesta R2, then you decide to switch to the Porsche 911 GT3 after a careful analysis of other possibilities at hand, eventually choose the Porsche by economic issues.

Obviously more problems are anticipated with the change of a car for a car 160CV 420CV and rear-wheel drive. So this way, another difficult season for Iago, who better to scare scare.

Finally to finish the year in the Ribeira Sacra, he decided to change and run with a Ford Fiesta R5, as would have combined with Roberto so he could choose your car for 2016. And thus felt much safer from the first minute the wheel of the R5.

I decided to start the season 2016 with the same R5, which began to show the great results to this day.
